NanoCommons had a strong presence during the EU NanoSafety Cluster Scientific Meeting that took place in Athens, Greece in conjunction with the NanoFASE consortium meeting. Tassos Papadiamantis (University of Birmingham) gave a presentation (slides) on data curation automation and harmonisation, the CEINT NanoInformatics Knowledge Commons (NIKC) curation templates and the use of online lab-books during every day experimental practice, was a member of the organising committee and moderated the Meeting’s sessions. Tassos’ presentation was given as part of the NSC’s WGF: Data Management activities and was mentioned in the NSC’s successful H2020 midterm review.
Other NanoCommons members/partners involved in the NSC Scientific Meeting were Éva Valsami-Jones (University of Birmingham, NSC Coordinator) and Andreas Falk (BioNanoNet, member of the NSC Coordination Team) gave presentations on the general NSC activities and WGE: Safer by Design, Innovation and Regulation, respectively. Claus Svendsen (NanoFASE coordinator and WGC: Exposure and Hazard Assessment Co-Chair), Marianne Martzke and Lee Walker (Centre for Ecology and Hydrology) and Thomas Exner (Douglas Connect, WGF Co-Chair) were also present. Claus and Thomas also gave presentations as part of the WGC and WGF activities respectively. Claus presented the Environmental Fate & Exposure aspects of WGC, as well as a case study on the NanoFASE and INSPIRED projects along with Christa Schimpel (BioNanoNet).
Costas Charitidis and Ioannis Xiarchos (National Technical University of Athens) presented the activities of WGB: Materials and Standards, while Antreas Afantitis (NovaMechanics) gave a presentation on “Innovate Nanoinformatics Models for the Risk Assessment of Nanoparticles” as part of the WGD: Models and Tools of Risk Assessment activities. Harry Sarimveis and Philip Doganis (National Technical University of Athens) and Georgia Melagraki (NovaMechanics) also attended the meeting.
