Dr. Lucian Farcal is the Scientific Project Manager at Edelweiss Connect. In NanoCommons he is involved in Work Packages 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8. 9, 10 and 12.
Dr. Farcal is currently involved in different EU or commercial projects, with a role in the scientific and project management implementation, knowledge transfer, design and development of different DC applications and reporting. These include also activities in the area of nanomaterials research and nanosafety, where DC is developing a set of applications to support the collection and sharing of methods and data. Previously, he has led the project management of the eNanoMapper project through its successful review and completion and has assumed this role in several other projects (e.g. OpenRiskNet).
Dr Lucian Farcal studied veterinary medicine at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) and he received the PhD degree at the same University in 2009. After the doctoral studies he has worked as scientific officer at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in the area of alternative methods to animal testing with a focus on the respiratory system, followed by a postdoc and project management position at Karolinska Institutet in the area of nanosafety research.
